Our Go-To Fixes (In Order)
- Clean the build plate thoroughly with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to remove oils, dust, and residue.
- Apply a light, even coat of Aqua Net Extra Hold hairspray (purple can). Avoid heavy buildup.
- Increase Initial (First Layer) height to 0.24 mm instead of 0.20 mm for better surface contact.
Additional Tips That Often Help
- Slow down first-layer speed to allow the filament time to bond to the plate.
- Ensure the build plate is fully seated and locked flat before printing.
- Avoid touching the build surface with bare hands after cleaning.
- Verify bed temperature is appropriate for the material (PLA typically 55–60 °C).
On large, flat prints, slightly lowering the build plate temperature can help reduce edge lifting and improve overall adhesion.
- Re-clean and reapply hairspray periodically rather than stacking old layers.
- Use a brim for small parts or prints with minimal surface contact. Tip: Increase Brim-object gap to .2 to make brim removal easier.
